We are delighted to inform you that JISC has purchased Eighteenth Century Collections Online on behalf of the UK Higher Education Community.

Both JISC and Cengage Learning would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation exercise. Your participation, comments and commitment were instrumental in securing the purchase of ECCO for the UK Academic Community.

JISC has purchased the digital content on behalf of the UK Academic Community. To gain access to ECCO, a hosting service with an annual affordable hosting fee is available through Gale.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) is the most ambitious single digitisation project ever undertaken which offers wide access not only to a century of the nation's intellectual heritage, but also works from earlier periods which were valued and printed or reprinted during the eighteenth century:

  • a library of over 135,000 eighteenth-century printed books
  • more than 26 million scanned facsimile pages
  • each title has a full citation records from the English Short Title Catalogue
  • fully searchable - including full-text and illustrations
  • multi-disciplinary: a research resource for all disciplines
